I have embarked upon the journey of preparing my body and mind for the seventh edition of The Coastal Challenge, a six-day 225-kilometer stage race in February 2011 through the remote jungle and beaches of Costa Rica.

Imagine running an off-road marathon every day for six days in a row, with heat, humidity, water, mud, sand and bugs...

Not your idea of fun? Well the good news is that the company that puts on the event, TCC Adventures, just announced new options for you to get involved that require less running, a lower entry fee and way more fun!
The new TCC Relay and the new Coastal Range Hill Race are both excellent additions to this already incredible event. Take a hard look at the logistics and contact your running buddy because now’s your chance to do this! Learn more here.

Since I'm running the Solo Expedition Run it's going to take me months to prepare but the idea of becoming stronger than ever before while pursuing such an exciting goal makes it worthwhile. With the first few weeks of my first build cycle are already in the books, I've realized that training for a stage race is different than training for a 100-mile run. Nonetheless, I'm off to a solid start, averaging 9 workouts per week; 5 of which are running and the other 4 are cross training. I'm absorbing the fitness accordingly and I'm very excited to get my endurance back.

I'm very fortunate to have RunJunk.com supporting me again this season. They have recently launched an elite performance supplement line called Elemental Performance and it's helping me jump right back into heavy training. You should definitely check it out and try a free sample too.

And thank you for your continued support and for all the new readers that are now on board for the ride!
Yours in adventure,
~Toby
