Back East. Back West. Back Running!

Stoked to be back from a great trip back east to visit my family and now I'm back running too!

I finally graduated from physical therapy for my Iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS) and have been running every other day for the last 3.5 weeks without any lingering issues thanks to a great physical therapist who helped me strengthen and balance key areas of my hips and glutes. I also switched to new running shoes that are better for my gait. It takes a lot of focus and attention to rehab ITBS and it can sneak up on any of us. I’ve recently seen both Tawnee (try the exercises she lists) and Ryan dealing with it too!

Soon I’ll be back doing this:

For now, I'm just enjoying the official start of summer:

I just returned from visiting my family on the east coast for the 4th of July weekend and had a blast! Between time with family, the grill, boat, brewing our own beer, enjoying fine craft brews and playing bocce, my brother and I fit in two solid runs. The first was a 5-mile road run through our hometown at an 8:10 pace. The next was an 8-mile trail run in 96 degree heat and humidity that took us nearly 1:30 to finish. Damn that was hot!  I also enjoyed paddle down the Connecticut River via kayak. Check out the route

And now I’m leaving for Idyllwild to celebrate my 27th birthday with my friends and climb a classic called Open Book!
