March Madness

Posted by Toby Guillette Thursday, March 4, 2010

The Gran Fondo is this weekend and I’m super excited to ride over the Coronado Bridge! Unfortunately, rain is in the forecast, but with nearly 3,000 cyclists and water bottles full of Prosecco wine (kidding, sort of) it should be a good time regardless.

A pic from Sunday's trail run on the PCT (see below)

It was raining cats and dogs on Saturday (very pleased with my decision to tackle my move early in the week) and Airey had food poisoning so we bagged the bike ride and I spent the day unpacking and organizing at my new house. I was able to get most of the garage done (priorities) and some of my room. No photos yet. I’m now officially out of the old and into the new place. So the next chapter begins!

A view from my new commute

Sunday turned into a beautiful day and I ran another section of the PCT with Paul, Mike and Steve. We got dropped off at Scissors Crossing on highway 78 by Andrea and Beth and ran up and over the San Felipe hills to Barrel Springs. This was a 23-mile section where the first 18 miles was all climbing, but very runnable, and the last 5 miles were downhill to the cars.

When my ITB locked up at mile 13, it pulled my knee out of alignment. We were in the middle of nowhere with literally no option to bail (check the map) so I had no choice but to continue for another 10 miles. My knee took quite a beating so I’m going to chill out with the long run miles until that clears up. Despite the discomfort, the views were amazing and reminded me of why I love what I do:

This week, two companies I recently modeled for published photos from the shoots!

My jump from the photo shoot totally made the homepage!

And the front of the catalog!

Too bad my head got cut off… oh well :)

In other endurance news, I got word from my climbing partner, Kam, that our permits for Mount Williamson and Mount Tyndall were processed and accepted so we’ve got two new California 14er’s on the event calendar for late May!

There's so much on my plate this month so you'll have to stay tuned for the updates. Thanks for reading!
